ISO 22000 Food safety management systems
This International Standard specifies requirements for a management system of food safety when an organization in the food chain needs to demonstrate its ability to control risks related to food safety , in order to ensure that the food is safe at the moment of human consumption. It is applicable to all organizations that are involved in any aspect of the food chain and want to implement systems that consistently provide safe products.
IFS Food is a recognized food safety standard in the manufactured processes and products. IFS Food applies when the products are processed or when there is a risk of product contamination during the primary packaging. The IFS supports the efforts of production and commercialization for the safety of the brand and the quality.
BRC Global Standards is a leading safety and quality certification program, used by over 22,000 certificated suppliers in 123 countries, with certification issued through a worldwide network of accredited certification bodies. The Standards guarantee the standardization of quality, safety and operational criteria and ensure that manufacturers fulfill their legal obligations and provide protection for the end consumer. BRC Global Standards are now often a fundamental requirement of leading retailers.
GLOBALGAP (originally EUREPGAP) is a private organization that establishes voluntary standards through which it can certificate agricultural products in all parts around the world. The objective is to establish a single standard of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), applicable to different products and able to cover the totality of agricultural production. For consumers and distributors, the GLOBALGAP certificate is a guarantee that food comply with established standards of quality and safety, and which have been prepared in accordance with sustainability criteria, respecting the health, safety and welfare of workers, the environment, and keeping the respect for animals in mind. GLOBALGAP is a standard at the level of the overexploitation which covers the entire production process of the certified product, from the first moment (as it can be control points for seeds or nursery plants) and all subsequent farming activities until the moment the product is taked of the farm.
HACCP Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point
The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is a preventive systematic process to guarantee the food safety in a logically and objectively way. It applies in food industry but also applies to the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and in all industries that manufacture materials in contact with food. It identifies, evaluates and prevents all risks of contamination of products to physical, chemical and biological level throughout all processes of the supply chain, establishing preventive and corrective measures for its control aimed at guarantee designed the safety.
